Still alive and off to another adventure...Day 3...

So for day 3 of our adventures,

We headed on over to UC Riverside.  Man, these campuses are insanely unreal...

The bell tower which is at the center of the campus and signals off the class rotations...

Awesome architecture and campus scenery...

Inside the UC Riverside library...

And then we checked out their dorms, first off, their more older first year dorms...

And then there were UCR's more recent first year dorms...

After our tours we had us some lunch at the "Hub".  Kinda hilarious, they had poke bowls, but nothing like our poke bowls back at home.  Though there was significantly less amount of fish, "a" for effort and it was still pretty good...

After lunch was over, we did a drive by at the Claremont College Consortium, which is made up of a number of different campuses all within the same block, very, very, interesting...

And then the day ended with Crab Cooker, yummies...

Still alive and off to another adventure...Day 2...

So the following morning,

The niece and I woke up and headed on out for our adventure.  We drove on over to Chapman University.  I found this campus to be super duper interesting.  It's a smaller private college, nestled amongst a suburban neighborhood.  The buildings on the campus are beautiful, many of which are brick.

After our quick stop at Chapman, we headed on over to UC Irvine, but before doing so we had some brekkie, acai bowls to be specific at Barefoot Bowls, yummiez...

We arrived at UC Irvine a little ahead of schedule so we headed on over to their nearby mall.  Nothing was open yet, but I was pleasantly to see some art by one of my favorite artists, Sharktoof, hella cool stuff.

After our lil nosey sesh, we headed on UC Irvine for our tour.  Man, the architecture on this campus is unreal, gotta love the campus of the anteaters, ZOT, ZOT, ZOT!  A lil interesting fact, the inventor or that foil lining that bakes those Hot Pockets graduated from here.

More awesome architecture...

They filmed the old school "Planet of the Apes" here.  And you see that off color beige-ish vertical panels ?  Those actually open up and were used to install super computers back in the day...

Awesome park in the middle of campus...

See the infinity sign in this fountain?  Pretty cool stuff...

More UCI buildings...

And then there's the dorms for the first year students...

After our tour and lunch at UC Irvine we had some lunch and then headed to Boomers to get our miniature golf on...

It was hella hot so after that was said n done, we had us some dinner from Baja Fresh n called it a day...

Still alive and off to another adventure...Day 1...

Not sure if I even still have fans out there or not, lol,

But just letting you all know that I'm still alive and I'm doing okay.  Work has been keeping me super busy, and I finally got me in some vacation time off, yes!  This time around my adventures are centered around my niece, who is on her way to graduation.  Man, as I look back at things, not only am I feeling like an old fart, but time sure does go by at sonic speed.  I still have awesome memories of holding her for the first time, being there when she took her first steps, attended a number of school functions, etc. etc.  Like a lot of us uncles, she's the world to me.  Back to the story, I saved some of my funds to take her on a college campus visit with some true HaynMade adventures thrown in between.

We arrived at LAX, and I was pleasantly surprised at the new renovations they made.  Sadly I didn't take any photos of that so you jus' gotta see for yourself, lol.

We grabbed our car rental and our firs stop?  Good ole In-n-Out Burger.  I got me a complete order of a hamburger with the works, fries, a Coke and a chocolate shake...don't judge me, I'm vacay, lol.

After our lil meal we headed on over to my friend's folks' place, our humble abode for the next few days.  I hooked my friend's folks with some of their local favorite snacks, a token of my thanks for their hospitality.  We called it a night, for there was an adventure waiting for us the following morning.

Lunch meeting with a colleague...

So today I met up with a colleague and good friend of mine,

And being that she has quite a taste pallet, I'm always down to meet up with her for a great convo and new food experiences.  So today, her recommendation was for us to go and check out Superette, a local eatery which jus' opened recently here in the 808.  They're known for creating menu items which come almost completely from locally grown and farmed produce.

Between the two os us we shared a sampler tray which included a tasting of five of their different sides, which included a root salad, curried eggplant salad, butter squash salad, an ‘ulu (breadfruit) salad and a quinoa salad.  All were very interesting but the quinoa salad was hella good!

And for lunch I had me an ahi (tuna) blt, which came with a green salad and a sampling of pickled veggies...

While my buddy got her a carrot and orange soup, very tasty may I add (ya, I had to try that too, lol)...

So if you're ever in the mood for some real good quality fresh food, be sure to check these guys out!
