Feelin' like ish...

So my eventful Thanksgiving weekend finally caught up with me,

My friend's son had just gotten over a cold.  According to his mother, he was not contagious, but hmm, how is that so when her husband and I got sick?  Lol, it would be my luck.  I really can't stand it when I get sick because when I do I get hit pretty bad.  So today, I took the day off so that I wouldn't get the office peopz sick and I bought me a whole bunch of stuff to hopefully drown out all the crapola that's in my system.

Around the island...

So my friend's bday was on Saturday,

So her husband (also my friend), their son and I went driving around the island, which is something their son hasn't done, and something I haven't done since I was a kid.  We packed a whole bunch of food and headed on out, good times.

Deja Vu...

So for Thanksgiving,

For the past several years I've been goin' over to my friends' place for a huge pig out sesh.  It's almost deja vu like when I went to my brother's place, TONS of food to eat.  There was all of the normal Thanksgiving dishes, ham, turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes.  And then I was beckoned to make make my "ma'alahi stuffed shrimp" and my mudpie, two of my top two secret recipes, lol.  There was also noodles, string beans and bacon and macaroni and cheese.  My friend also gets into the festive spirit and makes these cheese and meats platters and relish trays, she cracks me up.  I for sure gained some major poundage.

Feastage with the family...

It was feastage night with the family,

Saturday evening my lil brother invited the family over for some potluck din din.  Since my brother has started a family, this year he wanted to take the reigns and do some serious family style cooking.  Both him and his wife made a majority of the grinez, turkey, ham, bisquits, mashed potatoes and corn, and my mom brought veggies, potato salad and pies, my sis brought noodles and I brought a huge bootay drum of icecream from Dave's.  We majorly feasted, and all in all it's always good to hang with the family.

I'm gonna git you...

A suited up rabbit with a knife comin' to git ya,

What's not to like lol.  You gotta give it to Luke Chueh for turning his "Black in White and Red All Over" paintings in three-dimensional vinyl form.   So far there are two colorways of this figure, the more "subtle" original colorway and a bloodier version of the fig.  It's suspected that there will be at least one more colorway of this figure in the near future.

Lightsleepers pops it up...

A day after our "Girls Represent" event at Prototype Ala Moana,

Lofa, a fellow freind, collector and one of the top dogs in the Hawaii urban scene held his "Lightsleepers Pop-Up Store" debut just a floor above at Split Obsession at the Ala Moana Shopping Center on November 6th.  Zonrboy and I went to support the cause, cuz we're all in it together to support one another in really making our mark in the urban scene not only in the 808, but throughout the world to let everyone know that we got it going on.

In true Hawaii fashion, Lofa had it goin' on in full force.  Right at the entrance of S.O. (as some of us call Split Obsession) CKaweeks, on the right was slapping up some sick "mono" canvas while on the left the crew hit up the vinyl with killer mixes, where a lot of the gang hung around.  As you walked towards the back of the store, in the middle area there was a nice assortment of sweet tooth satisfying goodies, Waialua Soda Works, and hot damn that pineapple flavor was killer.  And there was some old school favorites including Hostess Ho-ho's, yes!  A lot of us 8080 peopz were all there to show support and that sweet tooth section was a good place for us to hang out, talk story and crack jokes...as usual.  Choni also dug into his magic hat and threw out some of his handmade decals, some of which were new designs...sick.

There was an even Steven representation of Lightsleepers goodies, which included Katch1 x Tyo trucks, shirts, stickers and buttons.  Whew, yup we're talking full force!

A couple of Hawaii's best also stopped by to show support, which included The Starfish Guy and Woebots himself who dressed in his killer yet appropriate Quasimoto suit...sick!

Good times, good times...

One MAD family...

Today I'm featuring another one of my favorite artists,

This time, MAD.  I really like the bold lines of MAD's figures and the whole theme of the hip/hop and urban world of his designs.  MAD has done a number of figs including Dunnys, his own line of blind box figs and MADL's...wicked talent.  In the pic below (from left to right) are his two Bentworld Vandals, one of his Dunny designs,  his two Sharpest Sprayers and in the back his TV Head.  I really like how he uses black and gold in some of his figures, so after I got the TV Head (which I've been looking for for a loooong time, lol) I grabbed up all of my black and gold MAD figs and snapped this pic.  (Thanks Cheeky for the TV Head n the Sharpest Sprayer figs!)

ESC "Girls Represent" Recap Vid...

"Girls Represent" Recap (Erick Scarecrow+Prototype+808orbit+Girl Fest)

“Girls Represent,” held on Friday evening on November 5th, was surely an evening to remember.  The event debuted Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Maria Wet-Suit Maguma Hawaii Exclusive figure at Prototype’s Ala Moana Shopping Center store location.  “Girls Represent” also kicked off Girl Fest, a week-long event that promotes positivity and empowerment in women through music, art and education.  ESC diehards stood in line ahead of time to guarantee their hands landing on the Maguma figure and nearly 100 spectators stopped by to check out what was going on and/or got their Prototype shopping fix out of their system.

Hawaii’s very own talent also joined hands as Prototype held up their sales.  Deejaybetty slammed one mean non-stop remix set which infused hip hop and urban tracks with trance and house beats, ridiculous.  In Prototype’s entrance window, Remi Mead slapped up a live painting canvas session, which resulted in one sick piece of art.  There were freebies to be given out; ESC prints to the first 8 Maguma figure buying fans and gummy froggies to the first 50 customers who entered Prototype.  There were also raffle prizes to be won, which included Remi’s painting, Erick Scarecrow figures and apparel and blindbox figures.

Money from the raffle tickets were donated to a Hawaii worthy cause and a portion of Erick’s shirt sales were donated to Andy from Toysrevil.  There was a healthy heaping of people who made the evening a memorable one.

Stop playing with your food HaynMade...

Momma always said,

Stop playing with your food.  I guess that artsy fartsy side in me could never resist, lol.  A fellow collector friend of mine hooked me up with some cupcakes from Cake Couture, damn, it's pretty good stuff.  But when I first opened the box, I thought to myself, "Hmm, these guys would look good with some of my figs."  And poof, here you go, lol...

Red Velvet (with a Luke Chueh Possessed figure)...

Pumpkin Creamcheese (with a Sam Flores Wyger figure)...

Mocha (with an Erick Scarecrow Soopa Maria figure)...

And Peanutbutter and Jelly (with a Mark Landwehr Paw figure)...

Thanks friend for fulfilling my sweet tooth!

Soopa GID...

Got this fig in my hands today,

She's a beauty, aka Soopa Maria GID twin by Erick Scarecrow, which as you can see has a nice sassy glow to her.  I had to snap a pic of her, and here ya go...

Much thanks to the powers that be for this awesome fig...
