On Saturday, June 2 from 6-8pm
at Ing Direct Cafe, Hawai'i's very own Pancho Abalos, will be debuting
his "Tributes" show. If you're into Japanese culture with an urban
twist, then Pancho's "Tribute" exhibit is something you're going to want
to check out for sure. In true Abalos fashion, he will be what he
calls "flippin' the script" on popular art of the Edo period.
More impressively, Pancho Abalos will also be exhibiting the artwork of twelve student artists from Wai'anae, Nanakuli, Kapolei, Waipahu and james Campbell high schools. You have to give propz to an artist who shares the stage with inspired and upcoming artists.
If you don't know who Pancho Abalos is, then shame on ya. No matter the medium from walls, to wood panels, to canvas to vinyl figs, Pancho has ridiculous style, with his crazy control and use of lines, color contrast, layered depth, visual "pop", etc. etc.
The evening festivities will also include a silent auction to benefit the Hawai'i Arts Alliance, a statewide non-profit entity that promotes art education here in the 808.
And in true Pancho Abalos fashion, there will probably be a few surprised and merch thrown into the mix. It's going to be an event you don't wanna miss!
