My sis gets flashmobbed and proposed...

So my now brother in law to be,

Gave me a ring about a month ago asking me if I could help him with him proposing to my sis, being the creative head that I am.  I happily obliged for the obvious reason that it was my sis, lol.  But man, it was probably one of the most hardest things to do, to keep the proposal off of the radar from my sis, because she is one of the most INTUITIVE people I know, next to me, haha.  Anyhow, with some quick calls with some of my connections, my mission was to make it a night like no other for my sis.

 
So came time for the evening of the proposal, both sides of the family were invited for some Italian food as Ricado's Italian Restaurant.  Their food is really good.  Unbeknownst to my sis, all she new was that she was gonna have a birthday dinner with her husband to be and my niece, but upon her arrival all of her relatives and relatives in law were gonna be there to surprise her.

I hit up one of my contacts where I usually get my flowers from and put together some nice simple rose arrangements that ran along the tables for the guests.  The whole idea was brining in different colors, which represented both sides of the family coming to the table together.

In true HaynMade fashion, there's always a twist in the way I do things.  Although both sides of the family knew a proposal was going to take place on the evening of my sis' bday, I kept it a HUGE secret from everyone, but I also arranged for a flashmob.  I called up some of my closest friends and being the awesome and talented people that they are, they all jumped aboard to help.  Soooooo, when my sis arrived, both sides of the family happily surprised my sis with a huge "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" and she was soooo shocked.  But the best part of it all after everyone wished my sis happy bday and all of that, the flashmob of 14 actors and dancers took place.

Puahahahahaha, the look on everyone's face was classic!  There were smiles, laughter and tears as my crew of mobbers sang and danced to "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.  It was hella awesome!  My sister cried like no tomorrow, and after the song was done, a cake was wheeled out.  The cake was also made by some good friends of mine at Cafe Laufer.

On the top of the cake the chef made a chocolate box with a lid that could be opened, and in the box was the ring for my sis.  In true chivalry fashion, my brother in law got on one knee and proposed to my sis.  Nearly the entire restaurant with party guests, restaurant patrons and the restaurant staff were in tears as my sis said yes.  Haha, good times, good times.

One of our most fav waiters also got a cake for my sis, which was hella cool of him.  So it's no surprise why we always eat at Ricado's for all of our special celebrations.

So much props to my brother in law, Ricado's, Cafe Laufer and to all of my friends for making my sis' proposal a special one!

So one of my good buddies called me up,

He is the proud owner of Boogie Down Productions, a hip hop n bboy dance studio here in the 808.  He's a well-respected dude here in the 808 because he's been in the game for quite some time.  He asked if I could help by taking some photos of him which he needed to help promote a dance workshop he was gonna be doing in Utah.  If you notice, in my blog I don't normally put people's faces jus' cuz I like to keep things off of the radar, but in this case I had to.  It's one of my fav pics with the reflection goin on in the concrete where my buddy is sitting along with all of the bright contrasting colors.  The location was in good old Kaka'ako where a number of walls were (legally) hit up for Pow Wow, an international graff event here in the 808.

Mr. Woes hooked it up, and he hooked it up BIG TIME.  Get this, 6 Woes Dunny customs for a mere $60!  Think about the breakdown of each of these, that's jus' $10 a fig!  Man, along with the killer price for each of these bad boys, look at the amazing detail, friggen ridiculous, hot damn!  Much thanks to Woes, "my two buddies", Lightsleepers and Farrah Fawcett for the hook ups!

Happy AF Day peopz!

Easter adventure...

Man,

I've been spending Easter with some very good friends of mine for years now.  And year after year there's always great company and great food.  I brought along my sister in law and my nephew and we spent the day there.

No, these aren't my toes, but my good friend did get into the sprit, she's crazy like that, lol.

We colored eggs, it was quite nice returning to my inner kid (which I never really lost, lol)...

And in true fashion, there was food, more food and even more food...

And yup yup, there was an Easter egg hunt, complete with money filled golden eggs...

And my friend REALLY gets into Easter, being the big hearted person that she is she hooked all of the kiddes (including me, lol) with Easter goodies...

Dinner at Mom's...

Good times,

My brother, his wife, and my nephew headed over to my mom's and stepdad's place for some good home cooked dinner.  While dinner was gettin' put on the table, my nephew and I busted out the toys n played away, yups I'm a big kid n proud of it, haha.

As usual she had the table all set up "Martha style" lol, with the full works, bustin' out her appleware Franciscan plates, cloth napkins, you know how it goes.

And man, there was the full spread of food, I starved myself the entire day for this goodness, lol, and hell ya it was worth the all day wait.

You can't go wrong, baked ham, scalloped potatoes, that tomato, basil, mozzarella balsamic vinegar thingy, potato salad, rice n sauté shrimp...mmm...oh so yummy.

I even got a lil play time with my mom's dogs Izzy and Pili, they crack me up.  They were also the floor vacuums for any food that accidentally dropped on the floor.

And you know dinner wouldn't be complete without dessert.  It's all about the coffee and cookies-n-cream ice cream, chocolate syrup and pound cake, hot damn, that was good stuff.

After dinner we watched a couple of movies, and yup my mom read my nephew a story, true granny style, lol.

Gotta love being with the fam bam, good times.
