A trip down memory lane with Jouwe Tummy,
Damn, it's been two years already since I've curated my first ever show "Feed My Tummy" which I did with a number of awesome peopz, the main person being my good friend Marine Ramdhani. (You may remember me talking about him in an older blog post I put up (http://haynmade.blogspot.com/2011/01/one-of-my-first-aritst-buddies.html) But anyway, about year before that, we were talking about working together to host a show here in Hawaii, and he was totally for it. So when I got the go, I quickly hit the pavement and contacted a bunch of artists to be a part of the show.
My only regret was that I wish I could invite more artists, just because there's soooo many artists out there who I really respect for their mad skills. But at the time, Marine as an upcoming artist and the crazy shipping costs from Indonesia to Hawaii, he was only able to cast a set amount of blank resin Jouwe Tummy figures. Artists from across the globe were a part of this memorable show including talent from our very own backyard here in Hawaii.
I also brought together some really good people from the 808 to help be a part of the show, the crew at Prototype hosted the venue and provided sponsorship, one cool dude John Hook aka Contra808 who is trademarked for his wicked photography and a bunch of 808 heads who helped blast the event all over the place online and here in the State. The PR photos before the show were taken at a locally owned restaurant called Town, and it was the perfect backdrop, I swear. Pancho, CKaweeks and Newkon (808 artists who were also a part of the show) also stopped by to hit up blank figs and black books for the fans. Man it was an awesome evening. It was super duper hard work putting this all together, but it was worth every single bit. It really was a win for all situation and a huge collaborative show.
Marine and I keep in touch from time to time, even though we're separated many thousands of miles away. (One day Marine, you and I are gonna meet up, lol!)
I can't take credit for these photos from the show, so again, props to John Hook aka Contra808. More of his wicked ways can be seen on his blog at http://jahookphoto.blogspot.com/

It's been awhile...
It's been awhile,
Man, things have been super crazy busy with work, but you gotta do what you gotta do, and all in all, I like what I do. But here's a couple of pics I took of Erick Scarecrow's Ichigo Mama Panya figure, which came out in the og and a very secret colorway, which I don't have. But here's a few pics of the og colorway that I took, I really like how the shadows came out in these pics.

Happy VDay peopz...
Happy VDay peopz!,
Man, it's been awhile since I've posted anything with more than a sentence. It's been a crazy past several weeks with work, crazy man, crazy. I've been hitting the sites that I often frequent to see what's been going on or droppin' a really quick post as a temporary escape from the madness.
Anyhow, today, I met up with some good friends of mine for a VDay celebration. Today we hit up The Willow's, a local place to eat, mainly for their buffet. Man, I'm so hella full, there was all kinds of food, from Japanese, to American to Hawaiian food. It really made it difficult for me to go to work after, feeling all full to the brim.
The first round was salad, which I made myself a caesar and somen combo. Round two I hit up the mochiko chicken, round three was the Hawaiian food and the final round was dessert, complete with icecream, cheesecake, brownies and tiramisu...damn, I so super full.
But beyond the food, it was nice to sit with a group of people I respect talking stories and sharing laughs. So ya, for all of you out there may it be that special someone, a close friend or a family relative or few, give 'em a hug and let 'em know how much you appreciate having them in your life.
Happy VDay peopz!

First time ever...
Good ole Lofa asked,
If I wanted to be part of the Mutants, Misfits and the Mighty show he was curating. This was the first time ever that I've been in a full on art show, so I felt especially honored to be a part of a killer heavy hitter list of talent.
So being the collector I am, I had to bring the "toy" element to the show, even though I'm not a huge Star Wars collector. Jus' a few interesting tid bits...As best as I could with the points of articulation in the figures, I was trying to make the figures look as natural as possible. Like even with Darth's cape, I had to use a toothpick to get his cape positioned just right. And then there's the whole black background scheme I like to use, jus' cuz I really like shadows. And ya, I had to play off of the whole "good vs evil" theme, like in a number of comics and stories.
So here's the pics I took, and submitted for the show...
